Hearing God: How Does God Speak to You?
How do you discern the voice of God?
Does God speak to us today? If so, how does He speak to us?
And how do you know it's his voice not just your own thoughts?
These are important questions that have powerful life implications. And there is a lot of unclear and unhelpful teaching on this topic.
What does the Bible say about how to hear God's voice and what it means to be led by the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit Book:
Bible Passages referenced in the episode:
33 And as these were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles: one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not realizing what he was saying. 34 While he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!” 36 And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— 13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
